The speaker was too wide to do that...I tried several different options. I tried to use the old speaker cases, I tried to use MDF spacer...I cut a 1/4 , 1/2, 3/4 spacer but it either ran into the window or the panel wouldn't go on.

question? what did you do for the two antenna male plugs from the car? did you just hook up one? or did you plug both of them? im trying to find a Y splitter for the antenna but have no luck finding the right one that will fit the regular and small plug.

Looks like it might be too late now, but the trick to the baffle is a 1/2" baffle the size of the stock enclosure with another 1/2 or 1/4" ring behind the speaker itself. I fit my mids which are 7 1/4" actual diameter with 3" mounting depth using this method, the door panels barely fit back on, took some grinding of plastic around the grill but it worked.

I'm not totally opposed to the tweeter mounted into the rear door panel but I put the rear tweeter on the same baffle as the mid in the stock location. For me, the rears are gonna be toned down most of the time anyway.

yea....i didn't bother grinding the under side of the panel...i took a huge risk messing up the covers when i cut into them...i know i know i already did when i cut through them. But I was able to make it look clean...which i am thankful for!
