Question need advice to enhance 2002 gs430

Hi All. I just bought my GS430 a few weeks ago. I live in New Jersey. I love the car, but off the line, it just doesn't have enough. I'm looking for either a performance place in NJ that could do my work or an idea of what I could do to give it that extra push. Thanks!!

Start off with an intake with a piggyback ECU or one with S-afc(made by Apex-i) and a torque converter.

intake/ecu 400-700 $
TC- about $750

Oh and Welcome to Club Lexus

Now THAT'S a demanding customer. Buys one of the fastest sedans on the planet and doesn't think it has "enough off the line".

Aren't you still in the break-in period anyway? Take it easy on that beautiful machine!

I know what you're saying. But that's only during the break-in period. Take it easy for now until the time is right and you'll notice the difference. And it'll just get better from there, make no mistake about it.

Fellow NJ member here. NJ sucks in terms of upgrading at your local Lexus Dealers. Some dealers don't even know what to do. I have been directed often to Manhatten Lexus by members on here.

Good luck!

With a TC wouldn't a tranny cooler also be recommended?

well

first i would like to join into our clublexus and congratulations with new car..

i would assume instake with ecu chip would be nice for starters.. then probably exaust.. that should do it.. if that's not enough you might want to look more into another ECU chip and then already heavier modification to engines...

oh yeah.. once you put all those mods don't forget about breakes too

by the way .. a friend of mine just got 2002 gs430 and he lives in new jersey too

ok since your asking for a off the line inhancement then an intake and ECU is not gonna do much at all, those mods are more for mid to high end strength. you would need a Torque converter and LSD to get the best preformance off the Line or you can always get the forced induction method but thats too costly.

I would think the best mod , bang for buck wise, would be the Torque Converter, its about $1000 after install and cuts about .5secs of your 0-60 and 1/4 mile, couple that with an RMM LSD and your looking at about a 5.1 0-60 and mid to high 13's in the quarter. Now ofcourse with an air intake and an ECU your gonna be alittle faster but not by much

Biggie27, that is what I thought. Intakes work better the more, colder air it is sucking in. It may actually hurt low end acceleration.

I also have to agree with biggie. Larger, freer flowing intakes are more for helping high end rpms (may actually hurt your low end but that's only my assumption on the GS - I know it for a fact on other cars).

Since the car's brand new, what's the warranty impact of all these mods (intakes, torque converters, ECU's, etc)?
