Default Replacing bushings, maybe rotors

I know for a fact that my bushings are pretty worn so I have my Daizens ready for install.

What I am wondering is if my rotors are warped also since I do get vibration when I brake at over 55 mph.

Secondly, if I replace the rotors do I have to replace the pads at the same time? The pads are pretty new btw (they're at about 6 units).

Thanks!

I would not recommend keeping the pads, and replacing the rotors only.

Reason is: Any imperfections on the pad surface that occurred from the previous rotors (the ones you have on currently).

Would have adapted to the previous rotor which will make hot spots on your new rotor and shorten its life quickly.

So in the long run, only changing the rotors would not be worth it.

If your rotors are thick enough, just get them resurfaced to see if the issue goes away. If it does and the problem comes back eventually, then replace the rotors.

As for the pads, you can keep them. No need to get new ones.

I would also suggest changing the pads with new rotors. If indeed your rotors are warped pretty badly then it could cause uneven wear on your pads. You could potentially be going back and forth changing them out over time.

I just changed all mine out this past weekend. I bought Duralast gold pads and rotors from Autozone and for all 4 wheels was about $250. It took me about 2 hours to do, could have been a little less but it was my first time with this car. But it was definitely a lot cheaper than taking it to the dealer or tire shop. I took my other GS to a dealer and had new pads and rotors turned for $530..Never again!

I just bought the car a few weeks ago and had vibration in the steering wheel and pedal at all speeds when I braked a little harder than normal. But luckily the change fixed my problem. She rides like dream now.

I've been wondering, how can we tell the rotor is thick enough or not ? so pretty much, when we do need to replace the rotor ? is there any certain miles ? my GS is 80K now, and been using the same rotor since I bought it (30K).

Kevin, there is a minimum thickness spec labeled inside the hub part of the rotor if yours is OEM. If not, let me find out the info for you when I get home. You measure the thickness of the rotor with a caliper
