Hi guys !

I just purchased a 99 GS300. It's silver with 17" 5-spoke OE wheels. She's got 100k miles (160K km) on the clock. Only one owner and always maintained by Lexus/Toyota.

I've only have one pic for now:

She's in good shape, the usual small dings here and there.

I don't plan any big changes or mods. The 3.0L is powerful enough for me. (It's considered quite a big engine in the Old Continent)

The thing that annoys me most is that the previous owner wired a car phone and had it screwed onto the dash. So now I have a small hole in the dash, next to the radio. If anyone has a clue of how to 'repair' this or cover it up or something.

Oh he also had the rood drilled to put an extra antenna for the phone... the whole thing was installed professionally, but I still want to get rid of it.

Have a nice day !

Yves

Lookin' good and welcome! Since you're not going to be doing much modding, you got the best wheels. Any interior pics?

Thanks for the replies!

I also like the wheels. I think the 235/45 tires really make the car handle well. I also got the standard 16" wheels, but they need to be refurbished.

I don't have any interior shots for now, but I'll post some soon.

The car's interior is black on black with suede black/gray seats. I was looking for leather seats in very good shape but it was very hard to find in my price range. Except for the tiny hole in the dash, the interior is in great shape.

I hope I won't get the mod bug too soon. Actually I come from a Honda Prelude which I modded a bit (intake, exhaust, etc.). The thing became so loud and annoying it wasn't fun to drive anymore...

So for the moment I'm enjoying the quietness of the GS.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow if I get the chance.

Some quick questions for you though:
- is the ECT/power/snow button supposed to light up when the lights are on? Because mine doesn't.
- the 12v plug in the ashtray doesn't work. Common problem? (I'm going to check the leads with a voltmeter tomorrow)

As for the future mods... I'm thinking a new paint job and refurbish the 16" & 17" rims and maybe an aftermarket sound system.

Yes, the light on dash should light up. Check the plug under that switch, it's probably unplugged. (mine was) You mentioned that someone had installed a phone in the car so I have a feeling that it was not plugged back in the switch. And as for the cig lighter, just check the fuse. Good luck and welcome to CL.

I think he's talking about the actual switch not lighting up when your lights turn on, not the light on the dash.

Probably just a burnt out bulb - good excuse to upgrade to LED!

lol yeah ur right. Sorry but the good thing is that he learned something from me. jk. And yea, might be just the light itself from the switch.
