Default Ac controls /stereo location swap

Has anyone ever switched the location with the stereo or monitor so that the ac controls are on bottom ?

theres a pic on ebay in one of the install kit auctions. the kit does not allow it to be done and to do it requires cutting and moding the stock a/c controls since there wider then they need to be

Great idea.

Here's what I did back in 2003, back when there was no such thing as a double DIN Monitor Head Unit.

Do an ADVANCED SEARCH and enter keywords like "Monitor" and enter screen names: lexis11, jawnthen, chaskim to name a few and you'll see variations of what I did.

That EBay ad is a scam since they basically copped a picture of my install. That kit WILL NOT allow you to to do what I did. Now if someone can tell me how to file a complaint with EBay, please do, as I already notified them and got no response.

You can still do this type of install. I have a 430 with nav and I just bought a non nav climate control and installed an Alpine double DIN. At least on my 03 430, the non nav climate control was plug and play.

When I saw pics of this install I really wants to do it myself. Just never got around to doing it. I like the screen ad high up as possible.

i can understand back in 03 there was no Double din, but now there is? why not just go with the carson kit and keep your ac where it is??????

just wanna be diffrent? i think its easier since you'll be using your head unit more than your ac control?...it'll be right there by your shifter

I don't see the point. The stock radio's volume **** is perfect. Having it higher would suck.

You can use the steering wheel controls Anyway, the point is for better in line eye view. Even with my short 5'4" height, I find looking down at the LCD screen not very appealing. Now, its not that much higher swapped, but it does make a little difference. That is why I like the OEM manufacturers who mount their screens as high as possible. Infinifi, Acura and such.

That's precisely why my A/C controls are swapped with the monitor. Viewing the NAVI screen is much improved and closer to how OEM manufacturers would of designed it. It makes all the sense in the world. Also my controls are all by the wireless remote you see next to the armrest. I can control NAV, radio, DVD & CD from the one remote and view all outputs on the monitor. All Ergonomics improved? Check !

Don't forget this technology was leading edge back in 2003.
