I wouldnt go over 4k myself. Hell, there's a good lookin swapped GS3 selling for cheap on here that people wont pick up bc it has 190k on the body.

That supra swapped one will be hard to sell because severly modded cars are almost impossible to move quickly, it takes the right buyer and because there isn't a big market for severly modified cars you usually have to take a significant hit on the car in order to sell the car.

I'd buy it, and put in that 10 second LS1... We need more people to make the case for displacement.

SUMMARY
I ran the autocheck report and It comes back 100% clean. It was leased for the 1st 50K miles then sold as a Certified preowned Lexus @52K-115K then was sold to the current owner @115K and shes owned it from 115K-229K. From 05-late08 she racked up over 115,000 miles.

She averaged roughly 30K miles a year on that beast while she owned it LOL!!!

UPDATE

She "claims" to have shown the car to multiple people this weekend but I believe she is fronting big time. These past three days shes been blowing my phone up. Apparently noone has offered more than the $4000 I was willing to pay.

I'm thinking I'll hold out for a week or so and telling her my offer expires next wekend and more onto the next canidate.

Also I had her send me a pic of the gash for further evaluation. It must have been the angle on the day I saw it because in the pic she sent the "gash" didn't even break the paint. Apparently it wasn't as bad as my initial assesment led me to believe.

The "black package" refers to blacking out all the emblems...

it has platinum badging on it. the black pearl emblems in the front and rear.
but IT IS NOT A PLATINUM GS400.

on a serious note.
Take it to a mechanic, have them look it all over. if they say its a go and looks quite nice for having 229k miles on it, then offer her the 4 and call it a deal.
if he sees ANY ISSUE with it walk away and wait for one with lower miles and tb/wp done.

What does the "platnium package" consist of? and how rare is it?

My hearts not set on this particular car, it just happens to be local, convient and the seller is easy to work with. Theres a few other canidates I've kept in touch with but havent checked out in person yet.

I like to research and make sure I'm not reaching and overpaying for a potential vehicle unless it is extremely clean or a phenominal deal

Keep in mind that when someone puts that many miles in a short number of time, its usually FREEWAY Miles. Which are a lot easier on the car than stop and go city driving.

An owner putting on only 40 miles a day in the city stopping, going, shutting off, starting up the engine, the tranny shifting, brakes slowing, etc. Whereas as another owner can put on 80 miles a day on the FREEWAY. No shifting, just crusing in 5th gear at low RPM. No starting/stopping, braking, etc.

HIGH MILEAGE is not always a scary thing. A car with lower miles could have gone through more abuse.

Another plus is that records show that she owned it from 115K-229K. Which means her FREEWAY mileage is consistant and there werent a bunch of other owners in between that you have to worry about.

Heck, if I were in CALI, Id jump on this and drive it back to MN for a winter GS4 while mine gets stored.....LOL.
