Evaporator core - DIY?
Anyone with thorough instructions on an evaporator core teardown? Copies of the manual or a step by step will help.
Will more than likely tackle this as the stealership wants 2200 for labor alone!
Sending up the "bat signal" with an evaporator core next to it....

take the car to mechanic to evacuate the freon and compressor oil.
start with glove box , cd changer , radio , A/c controls , cluster and the driver panel under steering wheel. once you get that off take the center console out drop the steering column (4 bolts). At this point you will have everything necessary to take out the dashboard. dashboard is only held by few bolts . It takes two ppl to get out, so you won't scratch anything inside of the car. (the pass airbag stays with the dash no need to remove that.)Once that out you will have to get some wiring out of the way so you can get the reinforcement bar out . also remove the blower motor at this time. once you get everything out of the way of the evaporator box . disconnect the heater lines (inside the engine bay ) disconnect the ac line from the engine bay , than disconnect the line at the evaporator , and get the box out. when putting everything back take your time so you don't brake or forget anything .
sorry i don't have bolt by bolt pictures for instructions how to remove everything i mentioned here visit http://bahamutcars.free.fr/workshop/...nts/index.html . it took me about 6 hours to do this , this was by 3th evaporator job first time Lexus .
