Default Engine choked and died

Need some help on this one - my 01 GS 300 (117,000 Miles) has an Exhaust on it and sounds pretty decent - so the other night I noticed it started sounding a little weak (quieter), 2 nights later the car completely choked and died on me on the Highway.

The Mechanic says its becuase the Gas Station probably had bad gas - he replaced all 6 Injectors and changed the MAF Sensor.

So my questions are - is this possible? and do aftermarket intakes do more harm than good?

Anyone else ever had this issue?

The wet filters can clog the MAF sensor.
