Default Removing painted on pinstripe from your GS

Well folks after weeks of research I've figured it out. A method that removed the painted on pinstripe off the car.
Straight from the dealers mouth, "Laquer Thinner" It won't harm the clear coat or paint and will remove the pinstripe with ease.

Apparently that's how they remove them if a customer no longer wants it.

Figured I'd let you all know. I realize they are quite expensive too ($300 +) but it just makes the car look too..........senior citizen like. =]

Any laquer thinner is fine, I got mine from Home Depot. Just put a little amount on a paper twoel and use a little Elbow Grease and watch how fast it will go away. Use some fingernail too to get it started.

Future,

Before you put that stuff on your car, make sure the pinstripe isn't an applied decal or tape. Painted on pinntripes are VERY rare.

Mine looked like it was painted on as well, sp I took it to a paint shop for an estimate on removal.

The owner looked at it, heated up the end with a (similar to) hairdryer and just peeled the entire strip off with one pull down to the door. He didn't charge me a dime, took it off the entire car in less than 5 minutes.

Mine's painted. My car is silver, and imo, it makes the car look much better.

Are you asking what a pinstripe is?

Don't worry I already took it off. =]

As for how you know its painted on or decal it's VERY easy to figure out. Painted pinstripes have a rougher texture, also if you take your fingernail and try scraping it, a DECAL pinstriped will peel or rip slightly, a painted pinstripe will not. The painted pinstripe feels almost like a layer of porcelain when you put your nails on it.

A painted pinstripe is a pinstripe that's airbrushed onto your car, however it is not clearcoated, therefore the laquer thinner dissovles the pinstripe with ease.

the pinstripes are just these small painted line or stickers(basically) that run almost the length of the car on both sides right under the windows. i think they're gold on black cars and black on silver ones and so forth. nothing good or bad, just cosmetic. most guys apparently don't like them but others like fever do. i had mine taken off when i ordered my car so i never saw mine, painted on or whatever form they were
