Talking Custom Alpine IVA-D310

All,

Wanted to share my custom Alpine IVA-D310 for the 2nd gen GS. Before I sold my GS, I had this unit custom fitted and installed. This allowed me to still use the stock navigation and all its functions. As you can see from the images, this unit replaced the vents while still keeping the stock clock and hazard lights intact. My intent of this install was to keep the "stock" look as much as possible while also having the option of replacing the vents for a future car sale (which I did when selling my car). This unit was a beauty since I could watch movies and listen to audio with that Alpine quality. Wish I had taken more pics of it in action but never came around doing it.

Hope you guys enjoy the photos. If you have thought about doing this or wondered if it was possible, look no further. I definitely enjoyed it.

Feel free to ask me any questions about the install.

*I plan on posting this in the classifieds soon*

Crazy...wouldn't have thought to do it. Props for originality -- too bad you don't ahve any pics of the full setup!

Probably fiberglass and matching paint... you can see it cracking a little on the left

Yes, your correct about the fiberglass. That actually isn't a crack, it's buildup that wasn't sanded down all the way. It's hard to tell in natural light. They still did a good job on the work.

If you're referring to the supply air, it was blocked off with mdf behind the unit which minimized any dust buildup. The volume of supply air remained the same. When I removed the unit, the space behind looked very clean.

The volume of supply air doesn't change, so it wasn't an issue for me. By using my driver side vent and lower vents, I was very comfortable.
