Default GS with IS Wheels

I was wondering if anyone has tried to put the 10 Spoke IS Wheels on a Second Gen GS. I am trying to move down from a 19 inch wheel to a 17 inch since I'm going to college in the fall (the city will tear my rims up) and the 10 Spoke IS wheel is my favorite stock Lexus Rim.

Is it 215/45/17 ? I had the 07, I think 5 spoke.

If so... I had those awhile back. 215/45/17 tires, if that's what you're getting.

pros:

better gas mileage

cons:

stopping distance is greater

accelerates slower

high speed turns are less solid

view from behind the car looks like you're rolling with doughnuts

- Thinner width tires do this unfortunately.

But can't he put 235/45 17 tires on those rims, or aren't they wide enough?

Well my rims are 8.5 inches wide and I was looking at http://www.finishlinewheels.com/LEXUS/IS350/2008/ (the top one) which is 8 inches wide so I wouldn't think it would be too different. I like the 5 double spoke wheel too, but not as much as the 10 spoke. The 5 double spoke come in 18x8.5.

I Photoshopped a couple pics to show you guys what I'm talking about.

17x8 in 10 Spoke Rim

18x8.5 or 18x8 5 Double Spoke Rim

I'm not sure which I like more and I'm not sure if an 18 inch rim is going to help very much (compared with my current 19 inch rims) with nasty roads.

The 10 spoke wheel actually look much better than I thought it would!!! But I prefer the double spoke 18s.

Good job on the photoshop btw.

235/45 will be fine on a 8in wheel. I had that size on my Evo wheels and I believe that's also the stock tire size. Also going from 19in to 17in will not slow your acceleration, it will help it out a lot!

What size spacers are you guys running with the ISX50 wheels? I just picked up a set this weekend for the GS and I'm getting ready to lower the car soon.

well im pretty low, those are my pics in that thread posted..im lower now. the rear needs like 35mm and the front almost the same..keep in mind i have about -3 degrees of camber.
as you can see they are pretty sunk..im buying bolt on spacers this week for the rear, im doing 35mm or 38mm. if you want to be safe just do 25mm or 30mm, anything will look better than this lol

Thanks! I think I'll probably go with 25mm in the rear and 15mm in the front. I was thinking that 25mm might be too much for the front, no? I'm not going to slam the car, probably run NF210's as the gs is my daily driver.

Here's a pic right after i threw them on the car this past Saturday, I'm really liking them so far. The rims that were on the car when i bought it were disgusting..
