Default New member - 20" wheels ride quality?

I am so looking forward to becoming a member of the 2GS family.

I am considering a 2001 GS 430 with 20" NAD 4 wheels with Falken 40 series tires.

Are 20" wheels a good fit for the GS 430 knowing that 16" wheels are standard? What can I expect from these 20"ers

Thanks GSers. Cannot wait to post some pics.

If you're going to roll on 20's there is no way in hell you are going to roll on a 40 series without major rubbing issues. You should be running on a 30 or 25. These are the only sizes you should be running. Size varies on how wide of a rim you decide to go with

Front: (8"-9" wide)
225/35R20
235/30R20
245/30R20
255/30R20

Rear: (9"-11" wide)
255/30R20
275/30R20
285/25R20
295/25R20

Default Nothin better than expert advice....thanks

Thanks so much for the feedback. I am not a fan of rub, but what are ya gonna do.

I prefer a ride that is sporty (not 16's) yet still has a level of comfort.

I would love to hear from someone that experimented across the 17-20 spectrum.

Thanks so much everyone!!

like yakuza said, there is no way you will run a 40 series...im on 20s right now...front: 235/30R20 and Rear: 275/30R20, I got rubs and rolled my fenders, now im good. If that helps you...

I'm rolling on 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear with a +35 offset all around

Originally I was rolling on 235/30R20 Front and 285/25R20. With the proper offsets you should not rub. Later I switched to 225/35R20 and 255/30R20. Reason for this is because I wanted a little bit a stretch so I could roll my fenders and space out the wheels to get a nice flush fit.

20's are the max size rim you can put on the 2GS without having to roll the fenders or remove the fender liner. You are definitely going to lose ride comfort going with such a low profile. If you still want to keep comfort I wouldn't go larger than 18" however 19's and 20's look best IMO but it comes at a price.
