GS3 Owners - Do you regret not getting a GS4?
I put a deposit down and am supposed to be picking up this weeek a 2002 GS300 Sportdesign. Now I'm freaking out wondering if I'm making a bad move by getting the 3 instead of the 4.
GS3 owners - do you regret not getting a 4??
I just can't decide whether the power is worth the extra bucks to me - I do like to have that power under my foot - But the Sportdesign is pretty cool - love that black wood and the perf leather....

My GS was purchased for me by my parents so I have absolutely no regrets and I have no right to regret. The car is amazing and I still don't feel worthy driving it.
The GS3 still has a lot of power, and it is definitely evident. Even though the gas difference isn't that much, you still will be saving up some money. Also, insurance is cheaper too so you end up saving in the long run.
I definitely have no regrets and I don't really need more power than what I have. The GS3 is more than adequate. BTW, congratulations on your Sportdesign! Welcome to the family You'll love it.

I kind of regret not getting a 400 sometimes. But when I think about the 6k extra it would of cost me I think I made the right choice in my situation. If you have a good bit of money laying around Id get the 400. You can replace the wood fairly cheaply and you could find some new seats if you really wanted. Either way you will be happy.

The 300 is great. I dont care about speed. The way I see it how often are you going to do the 0 to 60 speed anyway. I like crusing anyway. My boy has a 400, I think Ill do a little report on the differences if anyone wants to know.

You know, sometimes I regret not buying the GS430 due to the extra power. But I also know that if I bought the GS430, I could not afford all the extra goodies like Wheels, Audio/Video system, Coilovers, etc. because of the extra $200 a month payment + insurance. If you do not plan on fixing it up, get the 430. If you want big wheels, and lots of toys, get the 300. Believe me, that extra money helps.
Also, you can always add xtra power to the 300 later on...if your not satisfied with it.

I dont regret gettin the 300. I hardly ever go faster than 50 here on Guam ever since i've got 3 tickets under my belt. next one, my license is taken away... The 3 is very powerful as it is. Plus, the 2jz-ge engine is extremely upgradeable. probably when the car is about 8-10 years old, i will convert it to a Aristo V300. disable the computer, add twin turbos, get a 6 speed manual tranny, etc. That will be around the time the computer and those other stuff starts breaking down, so why not upgrade??? hehehe..(cars rarely last long here on Guam's harsh climate and driving conditions)... no regrets...ok and yea.. my parents bought my GS for me too.

I don't regret getting a GS300 at all. Since I couldn't get an actual V300, I went for the next best thing. With the iron block of the 2jzge engine in it; there's a very strong and reliable heritage there from the Supras. I just wish that forced induction costs weren't so high right now. For example 6 G's to get me 75hp more isn't very cost effective IMHO - sheesh, I could have just bought a GS400. But then again, I've been told that upgrades cost more 'cause its a LEXUS! LOL Maybe with the wave of mods for the IS300, things will start dropping in price for the GS300. One can only hope.
And like others have said, if I had spent the 6 G's more, I probably wouldn't have all of the upgrade goodies that I have so far. Heheheee... I probably wouldn't have bought 19's within the very first month that I had my baby. But then again, with all the influences here on ClubLexus, I probably would have anyways.

I am not really into speed as much. I do like to take off at times though (from a light, entering freeway, pulling by d*cks who cut me off, ...). Most of the time, the 300 is plenty. There has been times where I wished I had a bit more oomph. These don't come very often though.
For the most part, I am pretty happy with the 300. It all depends what you expect from your car. Adding a "few" mods here and there helps. I'd rather have my "upgraded" 300 then having a stock 400.
If you have the $$, then I'd say go for the 4xx. If not, then the 300 is still a lot of car. Plus you can mod it to your liking with the $$ you saved.

I don't regret it. GS300 has enough power to kill most ricers.
If I want a fast car I wouldn't get a GS430 I would get some other sports car. I don't think you can get REALLY GOOD performance with REALLY GOOD luxury. GS430 is REALLY GOOD luxury with great performance but not good enough for real sports cars.
Hence I'm getting a sports car GS300 will be a cruiser.

While it's true that the GS is not a race car, it is a sports sedan. Having a FAST sports sedan is nice. If you want a cruiser, the LS400 fits that suit a little better...
The GS300 only has 225 HP on a car that weighs 3600 lbs (or so)...dunno...there are much fewer cars that can hang with a GS430 than a GS300....
The way I see, it's like buying a S-Class...you dont' buy a S430...you buy a S500...
Of course if you plan on turbo charging your ride, then a GS300 should be your pick....but really, are you going to turbo your car?
It also depends on your budget...if you can't really afford the GS430, don't strain yourself...and the Blackwood is really nice..

my dad got a brand new GS300 and a few months later, the GS430 came out. He regretted having gotten the GS3 insted of 430 but the regret was only for a while. i'm sure he likes his car. He was disappointed at first, having gone from a front wheel drive car to the GS. he thought response when you floor the pedal was half a second late or something. So i guess he felt getting a 430 would solve the power issue but hey, it's all good. 3 outta 3 cars in our home is a toyota.
