My Dunlop SP9000 is shreded
I was driving from SF to SJ on Hwy 280 last night when I felt something wiggled from the car. My speed was about 80MPH. I slowed down and started changing to the right lane. As I was slowing the car became more unstable, and my gut feeling was telling me that one of my tire was going bad. Fortunately it was almost midnight and there was no car behind me. After I stopped and took a look, I found that my rear left tire was totally deflated. After I took it off, I found the inside of the tirewall was almost separated from my wheel. I've enclosed a picture to show you what it's like.
I only have a couple of thousand miles on the tire, and its tread still looks good. On the first glace I did not find any nails on it, although I did not check to see if the tire was deflated before I drove it last night. Do you think this is something I could take to Dunlop for warranty, or I should just admit my back luck and pay for a new tire?

Looks like an underinflation problem or a defective tire (or both).

Your fortunate that you were able to pullover safely - something went very wrong with that tire. Remove your other tires (especially the rear) and make sure their not splitting either. Then drive over to the tire shop and get'em replaced.

Should be under warranty if its fairly new so you should be able to get a free tire if you bought it from a legitimate place. That's pretty bad. You sure the tire was not under inflated? It would put a load on the sidewall causing that to happen also.
I know you probably can't tell if someone cut your sidewall but thats what it looks like. If thats the case then I guess you have to cough up some dough for a new one. Where did you buy it from? There are places that sell brand new tires with "blemishes" believe it or not and the manufacture knowing sells the bad batch at a reduced price to get rid of them. I would think that would be against the law but I guess not. Anyway, I would raise hell!!!!!! Tell them that you had a hard time keeping the car on the road and you smell a lawsuit coming if they don't replace it free. Your only asking for one new tire not 4. They should honor your request cause they don't want the publicity Firestone is dealing with. ( Well I would think ) Make sure to inspect your other tires.
Never take an answer NO from someone with is not authorized to give you an answer YES" to begin with!!!! That's my motto!!!!!!
Keep us posted to how it turns out, Good luck!!!!!

That looks like underinflation. When was the last time you had check the air pressure? Anyway can you take a close up picture of the tread? The Dunlop SP9000 has a very thin sidewall design.

Wow...That looks like what happened to my freind about 6 months ago, He bought the tire's on line from The Tire Rack, he called them up and they told him to send the tire back so they can determine what happened after seeing the damaged tire they just sent out a new tire...

A few of you think Henry's tire was underinflated. Until we hear back from him, we can only surmise.
I understand sidewall loading on low-profile tires, and higher pressure may be required. So what is your pressure??
I keep my 18" AVS Sports at ~37psi cold.
