Default 2006 17" wheel on 1999 GS300

Hi to all you great members. I've been a long time lurker and now I have a question that I need answering but just can't find by simply searching the web.

My wife's 1999 GS300 needs new tires, but I'm sick of looking at her 16" wheels. I'd like to get the 17" GS400 wheels, but they're hard to come by at a decent deal. I'm considering the 2006 17" wheels. What do you all think?

I'm very partial to stock parts on my Lexus, so aftermarket wheels are a "no go."

Those will work just fine and there are many members who run these are their car. It's a good move.

Too bad you are so far away, I have this extra set of 17x8's from a GS400...

Same old story, wish you were closer. Shipping would definitely kill the deal. Thanks for the offer though.

I run these on my gs400. Good wheel but hard to keep clean.

Try craigslist if you haven't already.

I figured it would be hard to keep the brake dust off. I was thinking of the chromed version to reduce brake dust buildup but chrome eventually flakes off and causes slow air leaks.

I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist, but some people IMHO just want too much for used OEM wheels. For pete's sake, for 1300 I can buy a new set of decent 18" aftermarket rims and new tires.

I wouldn't go chrome. It's popular in SoCal but the flaking issue is a big deal.

I bought my set off CL for $350 with shot tires (rims were perfect though). I think that a used OEM set of 2GS17s or 3GS17s should be 250-400 before tires. Be patient and find a reasonable seller.
