Question Need ideas for GS300 build

Hey guys, i'm 17 and about to begin work on my 2003 GS300. I'm on a budget and need options for power and style upgrades. I'm working with 10k at the moment. I was thinking of doing basic body work and maybe a 2jz-gte vvti swap?
What do you guys think?
Thanks

10k is no where near enough to properly do a 2jz-gte swap and get you on track to getting your stance and style upgrades. personally i'd do any maintenance you need done first depending on the mileage of your car, then work on getting your stance on point. nice set of coilovers will do the trick but don't forget the lower you go the more camber/toe/caster adjustment your gonna need and depending on how low you want to be, you might need other suspension parts to get them within spec to not only drive safely but so you dont wear out your tires to quick.

as far as style upgrades go, please dont buy any wack replica body kits on ebay. remember you own a lexus and not a ricer civic. Decent set of coilovers, nice set of rims and you'll be turning heads.

don't worry to much about the 2jz-gte swap right now. you're 17, you dont need to be getting any speeding tickets in the near future. Trust me, its not hard getting them with a stock gs3. good luck and happy modding. and remember, if you got a question, use the search function first before starting a new thread

Welcome to the forums. Great to see another fellow VA resident. What part of VA are you from?

I would suggest making sure all the maintenance is done then suspension, tint, nice stereo, JDM visors, wheels, and then worry about a swap.

you could do both, a stock gte swap (280 rated hp) shouldn't cost you more than $8k to get done. (I'd do it for you for $6k if you were closer) leaving you with $2-$4k to have a good start on the appearances. I'm more a "function over form" kinda guy, pretty much the opposite of everyone else though. . . .

Thanks for the info guys. btw, I've worked my *** off for the last three years to come up with 10k, and the car was my dad's daily drive which he gave to me. It only wasn't till a year ago that I found out about the performance abilities of these cars. To answer your question Infamous 1, I'm from northern virginia, outside of D.C. So the over all idea is to skip the swap and make the car look good?, or swap the motor and have a sleeper?
