I would say u shouldn't take the GS2. If I'm buying a 2nd hand car, I would better go with the one with perfect cond. Even u just spend about 4k for the car, if in the first appearance there has been some problems coming up, I'm afraid there're gonna be more after u buy the car. GL finding a better GS2.

Even at 4000, I'd have several reservations. It would make a good chassis for a project car though.

I have a friend who just sold his gs for 2300!! It needed the head gasket replace, and it was good to go.

The dealer is telling me they are now "Tearing apart the engine" to replace the TPS..haha. I guess they believe I'm naive? The dealer also mentioned "I will want $4600 out the door once this is replaced!" Like it was somehow my fault his car fell apart once it was test driven. I told him after it was fixed he would be lucky if I offered my original $4000 and very lucky I don't tear him apart with bad press, reviews on his car lot, etc. I'm located in San Antonio, Tx. To smardav, this would be my 3rd car, I THOUGHT I was catching a good deal. I have a 1993 SC400 and my girlfriend has a 1999 RX300. I've been a member here for a year and a half, I just don't post too much.

Well, at that price you get what you pay for... You will need at least 6.5-7k to get 98-99 GS3 in okay shape.

Vadim540i.. This is the blue book for a 1999 GS300 with 150,000 miles and all the options that the GS I test drove today had, which included black leather interior :http://www.kbb.com/kbb/UsedCars/Pric...uizConditions=

You should get an 04 or 05 with 50k on it. wont have to deal with the problems that a 205,000 mile car has.

After a certain point (200k), I don't believe it negatively counts the miles anymore since it's so high.

200k miles
http://www.kbb.com/kbb/UsedCars/Pric...uizConditions=

or
300k miles
http://www.kbb.com/kbb/UsedCars/Pric...uizConditions=

It's not a bad price if they can fix the issues with it. Then again I'm more of a gs400 type of guy A gs with those miles would be 5.5-6k or so i believe.

No matter how many issues that gs300 had that he wanted after repairs, a rebuild, etc it'll still be cheaper then a 50k miles 04-05 gs300 lol, 10-12 k around from what i've seen maybe more.

To cwall.. Yeah dude, if I were you, I'd better go safe than sorry. When I was in the search of my GS2, I found 01 GS300 in Fred Haas I-45 Houston with 95k miles. It seemed like it was good deal. But after I test drove it, it wasn't that good anymore. I'm located in Houston, TX and kinda new in this forum. I'm trying to build my GS400 now.

Smardav, let me know if you find any GS300/400 out there. I don't mind driving out of my way to get a good deal.

The car had no oil on the dipstick? See ya.

You should check the classifieds here.

That's what I'm gonna do when I buy another LEX. Hopefully an ISF!!!!!!

Buying a car from a member here is prob just as good if not better as certified pre- owned
