Default TTE front lip spoiler installation

I'm really disappointed at how this not very inexpensive spoiler fits. They send along some cheesy *** adhesive that didn't hold the spoiler even after 2 days of taped with masking tape. Soon as I removed the tape the spoiler had about a 1/8" gap to the bumper. Does anyone have suggestions on what to use to keep this spoiler in place. Oh ya I did use the 5 screws under it. Now that its painted I know I can't send it back.

I had the same problems with mine.I was driving on the highway when mine gaveway though.I eventually got so fed up with the tape I had to screw the ***** on from the front, bad idea I know but no adhesive was gonna hold it on, and eventually the front bumper is gonna be replaced with a Veilside unit.I dont know what to tell you though other than the smallest screws you can find and put caps on the ends of them and paint them.

One bodyshop recommended to put 2 very small screws at front. He said he's done many cars like that but I told him this is a Lexus, not a Honda, he was speechless. TTE front lip doesn't fit that well though it is from TTE. I expect to have the same quality from TTE as if it's from TRD.

The bodyshop that put mine on had a similar problem.

They heated the crap out of the spoiler to make it more pliable, then they used some special crazy adhesive to stick it on the car (plus the screws).

The bodyshop owner said that if the TTE spoiler comes off the front of my car, that means the entire front clip is coming along with it now.

All, sorry to hear about your situations. I didn't have any problems with the fit or the install of my TTE. The only thing I can think of is whether or not enough of the adhesive was applied. You need to use almost the whole tube. Once the adhesive is applied you need to tape it up immediately. Mine was only taped for 30 minutes tops and it is really on there. If all the adhesive is used there will be alot of adhesive to remove (after it dries) with the little plastic scraper thing. The plastic scraper will not damage the paint. Just dont push too hard on it. Once the excess is removed, it should bee fine. I hope this helps. Here is a pic.

I didn't have any problem either. The bodyshop that I went to took the adhesive that came with the lip and threw it in the garbage. They then used another epoxy type adhesive and that was that. Mine is on very solidly. I accidentally tagged another peice of wood and it is firmly in place. i even tried to yank on the lower underside portion to see if it would give and it didn't. The fitment is great.

Default TTE Front Lip

The body shop did mine and I have had no problems at all. Its been on for 2 years...maybe the epoxy wasn't mixed properly?, or the spoiler wasn't clamped tight enough in place. Too humid? Lots of reasons why it may not have worked, but there is no issue with the fit/finish of mine.

Default Additional Screws

I just fitted mine 2 weeks ago on the car before taking it to get painted. I noticed that the 5 screws aren't enough to hold it in place, so I drilled 2 more holes, one at each end of where the 3 piece grill starts / ends, and secure with some galvanized screws. It held it place much better, and drastically reduce the gap in the front, without the expoxy. So, I think once I re-intall and put on the epoxy, it should hold well....

So, the morale of the story is to drill a few more holes to secure it to the front bumper, and it should fine.... It is actually an excellent fitment for aftermarket.

Zulfie,

I actually got mine painted before I installed it. It came out very clean. I still would shy away from using any extra screws - on the front especially. That is what the adhesive is for. IMO, additional screws wouldn't look right.

Sorry, I actually meant that I added the screws from underneath the spolier ( under the car ), not from the front. No, definitely wouldn't want to do that...
