My car is about to hit 90K in as little as a week. I'm at around 87K. This past weekend I changed the oil on the car and noticed coolant build up between the alternator and tensioner pulley. I didn't know at first from where the fluid was coming from, but as soon as I scrapped off the crusty build up I realized it was coming from the water pump. I check the fluid level and the resorvoir tank was low, the rad. was full. I could tell this just started to happen. I ordered the 90K service parts last night so I can change everything at once, so hopefully this water pump will hold another week.
Basically, the reason for this post is to know if anyone out there has had any problems with their water pumps around the same mileage. I know this should be changed at 90k for preventive measures, but I think water pumps should last a lot longer. I had a 94 LS400 which water pump I replace at around 190K, to include timing belt, etc... I had bought the car used with 170K and apparently the job was never done, but for it to last that long was amazing. The car still drove stong past 220K, then I sold it.![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Anyhow, let me know about if this water pump fails around this time frame and if you think it'll last another week. It should as I will be checking the fluids daily.
Later!

The pump is usually changed when the timing belt is done. But not always, since Lexus does not specifically says so in the manual. My GS300 has 102K, timing belt has been done, but not the waterpump. I expect the pump to hold atleast until 150K.
What is nice on the GS300 is that the waterpump is driven by the accessory belt, not the timing belt. So it's relatively easy to change.
