Default replacing oem filter box with aftermarket aem filter?

I want to run an AEM filter on the stock intake which will delete the air box. But my question is can I mock up the maf adapter into the intake, and will that work? Will it start up normal? Because if the maf isnt plugged correctly the car does not even start. Thank you

it can work if you do it right. i was going to cut out the part that houses the maf and use it with an aftermarket air filter before i found an intake kit. i am sure it would have worked provided there's no air leaks after the maf. Don't want that un-metered air messing things up. NB note the direction of the maf to avoid problems
