radio wire harness/factroy amp bypass ??
I have a kenwood double din that I finally went to get installed, the couple stereo shops Iwent to said there is no harness that is made for or gs' and that theyd have to re wire the whole car. I didnt like the sound of that and came back and called crutchfield and they said i can use harness 120701761 to bypass the factory amp. I know the factory sub (actually its a rockford fosgate) wont work by doing this so I plan to add an aftermarket amp to it later. My question, has anybody used this harness from crutchfield and or did you have sucess. The harness only cost me $10. I searched on here and I didnt really find the answers I was looking for. Metra harness' came up alot though. Lil help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I used that 87 and up harness from Walmart worked like a charm. The only thing is you have to splice into the harness that still connects to the amp for the power to the radio. That is the only one that needs to be different from that 87+ harness. Took about 30 mins to wire it up and hide everything. I tapped into the light that lights up the ash tray for my dimmer switch. But good luck it doesnt take long and real easy to accomplish.

I have a gs400 and I tried to call around for a harness they all said no one makes them. So I just went ahead and rewired everything. I'm pretty sure there a DIY thread somewhere.

I have a 99 GS3 and I installed a sony xnv 770 nav unit. I couldnt find a harness so I had to wire it up myself.
I hardwired/soldered the sony harness to the factory radio harness. I bought a multimeter, solder gun, speaker wires etc at the pawn shop for $23. I ran new speaker wires and bypassed the factory amp. I just used the speaker wires on the amp harness going out to the speakers temporarily until I get serious.
Everything works perfect, and sounds way better. When I first learned I had to hard wire, I searched this forum and google for about half hour. I found some good info that should of been stickied, but I cant find it now Ill post up if I find the links again.
