60,000 Maintenance- Help!!!
Greetings fellow Lexus brethren, it's time for my 60,000 service and I need advice. Obviously the Lexus Dealer (Charles Barker Lexus Va Beach VA) will gladly do it for a princely sum and will probably do more than necessary to justify the price. I've also read where some owners have gone to Toyota dealerships for lower prices and some have "negotiated" the posted service price down at the Lexus dealership. Others have gone to independent shops. I'd appreciate any advice as to what really needs to be done at this servicing and where might be the best place to do it or how to negotiate the price as low as possible. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Welcome to the forums! If you are a DIY type of guy, you can save yourself a bundle by doing most of the work yourself with some mechanically inclined buddies. Or, you can ask folks on the forums that live in your area, where they go for service. Word of mouth is very useful for independant shops. From what I've been reading, Toyota dealers are less costly than a Lexus dealer.
From my experience, independant shops are more willing to negotiate costs than dealers.
I hope this was helpful.

Yes, I have a manual. After reviewing it, it appears that the 60,000 mile servicing should not be as big a deal as the dealership makes it out to be. If I am reading it correctly, since I had the brakes replaced and tires rotated recently, looks to me that changing the filters, oil and coolant plus inspecting the items listed is all I need to do.
