Default Gauge Cluster Update

I came across this site LED MOD.

It has updated cluster faces for the Celica and tC.

Does anyone know if anything like this exists for the GS? Would you guys like this kind of upgrade?

www (dot) ledmod (dot) com (WTF does CL block web adresses?)

I'm pretty sure there's nothing available for the 2GS. There almost was once. Anyway, the lighting is a CCFL tube powered by some wierd thing...I dunno. VERY hard to change, even for a company that does this often.

IMO, some of that looks ricey, but using other colors, it has potential.

FYI, i had to change gauge cluster on my previous car and the odometer starts off from its original milage from where ever the cluster came from. I'm pretty sure that's how it works for GS also.

I actually did some research. I called the store, and he said he would be willing to do a group buy kind of deal. I was interested in updating the look of the cluster. Maybe a black face with white light coming through? Blue needle like the new lexus(s)? He said if we can get a solid group buy of around 10-15 he could hook it up. He would retrofit LEDs into the gauge cluster and make custom gauge faces for us to use. Maybe even a center tachometer mod. Would you guys be interested in something like this?

Or

that actually sounds pretty good but the only way i can be game is if i get a good preview of what it may look like cause to me the finish, the material use and how its lit does matter to me and is it going to have the auto dim like the oem clusters?

It's funny you mention this. I actually have a been talking back and forth with a shop to have a custom one being made for me. Its been a few months but its close to being finished. I've attached a photo of how it should look once its done. There's just a few adjustments I want to make before the final product is made.

I also shipped him a spacer cluster so he can test it out with the CCFL lighting.

Baliztik -- I like the bottom one. The top one says "Honda Civic".

Yakuza -- NICE! PLEASE post up pics/install/cost/etc once this is complete.

Yeah I was going to offer to be the prototype. But the only way he'd even start the project is if he'd have people agreeing to a group buy. Yakuza how much is he charging? How is he going to deal with the Greenish CCFL?

We block very few of them and only with good reason (typically repeat spammers or sales / solicitation who don't stop after being warned).

This specific company began to solicit in a very unethical manner in the IS forums in 2008.... he pretended to be a customer and kept reptitively posting about products (his) and experiences he had, when he was clearly the vendor. He directed members to contact "his friend" (himself) off forum in order to sell products/services.

Because of the misleading approach he elected to take by pretending he had no relationship with this company and recommending them as an objective third party, we elected to censor his URL and close his posts.

I will alert you all that this thread will be closed if there is any further discussion of a group buy with this vendor per our terms of service. You guys want to roll the dice and buy from someone who blatantly lies to sell stuff that's your decision and I wish you luck, but we will strictly enforce our rules given his past history on this forum.

I had no idea about this store's previous posts on this website. I went to them as an interested party. If he has done CL wrong then he has done me wrong. I am just a member with a 2GS that I want updated. I haven't heard of any custom gauge clusters and don't know of many people who offer them period. I apologize for bringing up past beef, and will keep the discussion on the gauge cluster development not the group buy.

Yes, this shop is making the replacement covers only. Once mine is complete they should be available to everyone else. I'll post up some pics once they are installed.
