Battery light came on for a min and is now back off? updated 10/24/10
i was driving back home from out of town it was raining part of the way but stopped about a third of the way home about half way home the Battery light came on for a min then turned off and has been off ever since. i drove about 100 miles after it turned off to get back home and it never came back on. what do you guys think? i was thinking it could have been all the rain but again it happen a while after it stopped raining. i think like 20 or 30 mins. thanks for the help.
i took apart, cleaned, dielectric greased and reassembled all the connections.
well yesterday 10/23/10 my battery light came on again and did not go off. so i pull out the multimeter and have 12.08v at the battery not a good sign. so i put on a new alternator and i have 13.8v at the battery. the stock alternator kicked *** for 9 years and over 336k miles what more could you ask for?
it sucks you have to pull off the power steering pump pulley to get the alternator off but it wasnt that bad.
what really sucks it the part that locks the 3 wire alternator plug to the alternator broke so the 3 wire plug is just pushed in there. dont know how long that will hold. anyone know where to get a new plug? i have to wait till tomorrow to call lexus to see if they sell a replacement plug.

At the least check your connections to the battery posts. Make sure they are tight and have no corrosion. At the most have the charging system tested.
I vote loose battery cable.
