Default Your thoughts on a TRD Carbon Fiber Grill

Was just wondering what other club members thought about the TRD Carbon Fiber grill. How's the fitment. I'm thinking about selling by RMM grill and replacing it with the TRD. Should I paint it to match my silver or keep the CF look. I'm looking for something different...the RMM grill is becoming more common these days. Thanks

Personally I don't care for it. I'm sure it fits well (being Toyota 'n all) but it's just a big wide opening and the mesh was very thin or open so I found it revealed the radiator etc. too much.

So what if the RMM is becoming more common if you like it?

IMO, the TRD grill would look great on a dark (black) car. On lighter vehicles, the grill looks too large due to the color. It looks like there is a huge whole in the front. If it was painted, my opinion may change though. I've never seen a painted one on a lighter vehicle.

What's wrong with the RMM grill being so popular? That just means many people have good taste.

Don't get me wrong... I like the way the RMM looks, however after 8 months of having it, it just seems old to me...I'm looking for other grills that seem to new to me that I don't see very often on other cars. Hence, that's why I'm looking into the CF TRD. I haven't seen to many cars with this grill. I really don't know too much about it except that it's supposed to fit better than the RMM and the L-sportline.

0260n5.7: I think you might be right about the dark color on a light car. It might look like a big hole in the front. It might look better painted.

When you guys say painted, you mean the surround or the mesh!? I'm assuming you'd paint the surround or I think it would look TERRIBLE on a non-black car.

I had one for a while, got an itch for a change, and went to the RMM, and now, have changed again; don't ask.

In a nutshell:

- fits perfectly
- a very solid piece
- yes, them mesh is rather 'open' and you can see quite a bit behind it.

Dog.....You know I love the RMM Grille. Not that people in the valley have it. If you really feel the need to go with a change. I'd suggest going with a different mesh like this one maybe.

I've seen TRD CF grill on white and silver GS. Not good IMO. I'd paint if if I were you.

DEX: I think I'm due for a change also. I get bored easily and like to change often. I'm thinking about going with the TRD and when I get bored with that, I'll switch back to the RMM. Question! You were able to paint over the CF right?

Enginyr: Steve, you know I like my RMM grill. Maybe the mesh idea is good one. Know any places I can check out mesh. Maybe something in chrome...

Thanks guys for your opinions.

LXOGOOD,
Well, I have the Carbon fiber TRD grill.... It didn't look good with the CF against my silver so I had to paint it.... I'll post up the before and after pics for you to see.... This is before...
