Default Tried searching, but came up empty on accessing brake light bulbs....

My dash light on my '03 430 is on, and I do have a brake light bulb out. How do I access the brake light bulbs? I searched (even on the sticky) but didn't see anything.

I saw what looked to be a couple of plastic screws on the trunk liner -- is that the way in?

yep. gotta remove/ pull the trunk lining out of the way, then remove the two 10mm. nuts that hold the tail light assy in place. its easy. the plastic screws are actually reusable rivets. i use a flat screw driver with a socket extension under it to pry them out.

Thanks fastryan -- I figured those rivets probably came out, but I didn't want to force them. I'll be sure to replace both sides, since the other bulb would blow about 15 minutes after I closed the trunk!

Snoopy -- check out Jeff Tsai's write-up from a few years ago about installing his LED tails on his '05. He covers how to do the inners on that writeup:

Now, quick question for those of you who have done the outers. My apologies to Jeff Tsai for stealing his pic, but my camera is MIA and Jeff's pic is exactly what I'm having a problem with.

In the pic below, do I need to take the white plug off the body of the car and then take it apart to be able to feed it through the grommet?

I removed the 10mm fasteners from their posts (there were actually 4 of them), but the tail light lens did not move at all. Should it come out fairly easily? Or do I need to do a little "convincing" to get it to come away from the body of the car?

Closer to the quarter panel there are 2 8mm nuts and the outside of the taillight closer to the trunk lid, there are two 10mm bolts.

Follow Infamous' point, but also know that there is slack in the harness inside so that you do not need to unplug the molex (white) connector. It's definitely worthwhile since you have it open to replace all the bulbs. You may even consider an upgrade to LED, since they should last much longer than conventional, but there is a cost to doing that and you may need resistors to keep the system happy.
