Maybe its because they sell a lot of cars to an older audience. Older people may still have a bunch of tapes laying around.

They need to get rid of the Tapes, I do have tapes but its only for cars that dont have cd players

It was due to the older clientèle. However 2010 models have pretty much lost this feature...

I'm new to this whole car scene. What this tape thing you speak of? is it like a extra feature I have to pay for or does everyone get this sweet option? I just got this sweet new technology called a 8-track. Hoping to have it installed by this weekend. It sure beats my record player changer.

I like the record player so I pratice cutting and scratching @ the stop light since you can't text while driving here in Ga. haha!
