Rate my rims and give me some tire advice please!
I picked up a set of Lexus rims yesterday. I'm not sure what Lexus they came off of. They are 18" and the outside width is 9" and 9.5" Not sure if that means they are 8.5" and 9" if you are suppose to measure from the inside?
My wife likes the chrome rims that came on the car when we bought it. I don't like the 17" chrome rims.
Here is where I need some help. Please vote on which ones look best, the Lexus 18" or the chrome 17" rims. I used PhotoShop to paste a photo I took of the new rim over the old rim leaving the same tire. I think I will use a tire of the same diameter but go with something wider in the rear. That way I end up with a bit thinner sidewall and the fender gap stays the same.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on tire sizes too. Currently the car has 235/50/17 on all 4 rims. That appears to be the max size I can fit on the front as they just barely rub the fender liner at times. I'm going to look for a tire calculator to see what 18" size tire I need to have to end up with the same diameter and width as I have now with the 17". For the rear I want the same diameter I have now but something as wide as I can go that will not rub.
I do not plan to lower the car and do no want to use any spacers. Let me know what you think. Thanks!
I just tinted the front window with PhotoShop. Looks like that should be done next after the rims!

Kill the chromies...
your probably rubbing because your out of spec. 17" on the GS is 245/45/17. The tires going onto the 18" should be 255/40/18 and 265/40/18 or 275/35/18
