Default Options for Headunits with Usbs

Hey guys Im a recording engineer so its important for me to be able to check my mixes in my car. I currently have a eclipse avn 5400 or something like that. BUt I want to change it out for a different Head unit for one with a USB.

The eclipse is a good quality sounding unit. I dont want to spend a ton of money but I dont want to get a cheap one that sounds like crap either. I know that I also have to be cautious of dimension so it fits right. I found the AVN unit back in the day because it was recommended on this site.

So can you guys recommend a good sounding unit with usb, for a decent price?

Like Rgarjr said many units nowadays have USB inputs for not only ipods but for other media players.

They will read them straight off a USB thumb drive? And is depth of the unit a issue?
I have a 99 gs300.

Is your radio double din or single I couldn't find a pic of your 5400 only found the 5500? The depth is standard, your fine.

Yeah eclipse does make some nice sounding stuff. I have the old 5435 and it does sound good. I also was looking for a new deck with this feature I hate burning CD's and the eclipse anolog input doesn't sound as clean to me as a disc.

I too produce and mix music (nothing too crazy, i'm a new comer). I use NS10/ADAM A7/Mackie 824's at home and double check the lows in the car.

Good luck with your decision on a new deck

I got ns 10s too. And those Adams are really nice. Thankx. I may just look into another eclipse unit. I dont want to skimp on a unit that has crap DA converters. Especially since IM used to how my car sounds now. May be best to stick with the same makers and close to the same generation of units as possiable.
