Default Magnetci Drain Plug??? Dont Do It!!!

Hello all,

Here's what happens to those aftermarket drain plugs after a few oil changes..

Had to dig this one out of the drain pan after it cracked right off with a little amount of torque.

Just a lil' FYI..

(Sorry for the typo, I meant to say Magnetic..)

Instead of the drain plug, I have a magnet on the oil filter. It's supposed to do the same thing.

I have Kics magnetic drain plugs on two of my cars for the past 3 years and several oil changes without any issues.

This might have more to do with the brand choosen or possibly overtightening it than it does with magnectic drain plugs on the whole. Most of the ones I've seen have an aluminum nut so they will be softer than the OEM drain plug.

Sorry the OP had a problem with that brand.

Agreed it was over tightened by the person who put it in . Nothing that was not expected of a cheap drain plug .

i also agree i think it was over tightening, cuz i have one and i havent had any problems yet. that happen to my friend with his oem drain plug. so i dont think its the plug itself.
