Wife has a '99 GS300 with 83k miles now. It's been reliable so far. The only thing out of the ordinary (aside from brake pad, oil changes, etc at regular intervals) was the door actuator failed and had to be replaced. That was about $87 for the part. And now the keyless entry remote seems to be malfunctioning, but that's it.

There's nothing that stands out that really goes wrong with these cars if you maintain it. I think the valve stems begin to leak with age but it's nothing really and mine don't at 130k miles. These cars are just as reliable as any honda , reliability shouldn't be in the conversation with the 2jz engine.
