Thumbs up DIY: Stripping roof to chrome

Hello, i heard the strips between the door and the roof can be stripped and under is a polished silver color, how do i remove that molding so i can turn it chrome? I couldnt find a DIY.

EDIT: So i made my own DIY

Took a risk and it worked out.

stick screwdriver in.

pull down on screwdriver.

while pushing down on screw driver pull the strip up/inward and it pops out.

itll look like this. and from there just pull up from rear of the car to the front.

and now for a picture of the clips (there are a lot!) but it pulls straight out hold the rear and yank it upward the whole way.

now for stripping it and polishing it, will update pics as soon as i get started today.

Edit 8/15 6:30pm

Alright, after removing the strippings, i went out and bought some stuff.
(don't need the wool and caliper paint, that's for another day.)

didn't have clean stripper, so i bought this. get the clean stripper if you can instead of this!

after 5 minutes of being sprayed on

auto stripper sux so i had to use this.. had to scrape..

has some goo on it, so iono i gotta find something to remove it and polish it out

any member got a polish machine i can use?!!

I've seen a thread about it. There was this guy with a white 2GS, and he was asking about how to remove these.
As far as I remember it sits tightly on clips, so pulling on it gently would work.
But before you do, just make sure it really is so!

I actually have the same intention, because the paint has started to come off off of one side already, so subscribing to this thread, we'll see what other say!

Wouldn't it rust or anything once stripped, or should it be treated with some sort of lacquer?
Thank you!

I will find out and get back at you. Might go to a shop and ask about it, since they work with those things all the time.

i think i remember reading that thread and i think what happened was someone was getting their roof painted black and they taped over those pieces and then when the tape was removed, the chrome look came from under that tape
