more pics of the situation.

first two pics of are the the tire on the outside and on the inside. you can see how the inside sidewall is stretched way more than the outside.

then pics of where i think it might be rubbing on the steering knuckle or nut. there is less than a 1 finger distance between the tire and the bottom of the nut on this side. I have put some white out on areas where i think it might be rubbing. will check to see if it rubs off anywhere

still wanna make sure my new tire i'm about to buy isn't going to have the same thing done to it.

and to add to the pain, today i stripped one of the studs on this side while putting the wheel back on FML!

Any more thoughts on this appreciated.

Im still waiting for pics to load but if you have a finger length from nut, its NOT that! The steering knuckle moves with the tire so its not gonna rub there. Right now I'm literally a paper length away from that nut and get no rubbing. That actually looks more like camber wear. Toe will usually leave skipping marks. But then again when I went on a 2 hour trip, my toe stripped my brand new tire like that too.

If you look closely my wear on this tire is the same. Its an alignment problem for sure:

LOLthxKbye made a good point though about bad suspension components. If they are bad, your alignment will change frequently during your drive which will too create wear.

hmmmm well as stated in my post earlier today i just got an alignment this morning. the sheet shows that they didnt really change anything except for the camber on the other side of the car. I can see from your pic Jokster that the wear is in the same area, however on my tire its strangely uneven and the tire bulges and dips in certain areas around that inner sidewall. Sucks about that dent you have, hope air isnt leaking out of there. And yeah, i guess its possible one of my suspension parts might be bad. I'm wondering if theres any way to check the parts out myself?

This is interesting... That is camber wear since toe is in the middle... He mention his camber is -1.5 and that should be fine. Sounds like something is forcing the tires to tilt that direction during the rotation of the wheels. What are the specs of your caster readings? Even better show us a print out of your current alignment specs.

Thats an old pic, dent has been repaired since then. That indention in the tire can be one of 2 things, one being when it went flat, the weight of the car put it out of whack the other being if you hit a pot hole or something real bad recently.

I think you got a caster problem. Time to change the caster bushings.

I can't help you with your tire issue, but I can say your alignment is pretty bad. It would have almost been better if the alignment tech didn't even touch your car at all. Definitely get your caster bushings checked out, but find another shop to do your alignment. The front and rear toe is way too extreme for good tire wear. You're running about 0.45 degree total toe in the front and rear so don't expect your tires to last that long.

alignment? wat alignment? the tech should've at least correct the front and rear toe settings..... anyways from the very first pic of the tire, it looks like the belt is broken in the tire.... if u have rca front and rear, take ur car to another shop and have them adjust the camber and toe.......a good shop would charge u extra to adjust camber.

Thanks for the suggestions on checking the caster bushings guys. I will definitely do this! I'm hesitating on installing the new tire until everything is gravy.

Yeah, i think i will have to bring it somewhere else for an alignment as the guy didnt seem to be able to do much according to my spec sheet. He stated that he "adjusted the camber as much as he could, and adjusted the toe for the way its lowered", but could this be the truth. Is another alignment specialist somehow going to be able to adjust it more to correct the camber? I watched him while he was working, and he was definetely doing something under there. After he was done he gives me my sheet, throws me the keys and says i'm "good to go" and didnt even charge me?? Wierd.

Although, at the same, time he is the same guy who aligned my car last time and my tires lasted a good two years..

Check the toe. Thats usually what causes that type of extreme inner tire wear.
I also had that issue even after aligning my car several times. Finaly realized that (duh) your alignment specs are going to be different after a drop. So, even though you are in the green on the alignment sheet, you real alignment is off. A shop I found with a very new alignment rack/program actually uses lazers to calculate your exact ride height and adjust the specs for the proper alignment. Tires do not wear abnormaly at all now. Its worth looking in to. Buying tires gets very old.
