Default Cool the engine...

Even with the forced induction route, unless it's the JDM V300, chances are the car is not going to be able to be tuned to it's "full" potential since no one has been able to tune the ecu for a US Lexus GS yet (or that I know of). Owners that are using systems like the Apex AFC, am I correct in assuming that piggyback systems like those would work even better if the car's actual ecu was also remapped and tuned to take advantage and work in tandem with the piggyback system? After all, that's how it should be used, rather than having to utilize it to bypass the ecu, right?

If anyone's still interested in ideas as to what steps to take to mod a car while still going the non-forced induction route, you might want to head to SGPracing.com. The closest thing there for "comparison" would be to look at the 300zx N/A upgrade chart to see what kind of gains a particular part might give to a car. I hope this helps.

That is all.

zenki300,

thanks for that info. also got a 300 and will probably never do forced induction. speed isn't so much my thing, but handling is since you could do that anywhere. one ticket is enough to scare me

Yeah, my GS has the power ( roughly 340+ RWHP ) but too many rpms at the launch will blow the tires away & too little doesn't yield the best times. I'll have to look up the 13.79 ET & check my 0-60 time for posting. Hope to install the TM plugs next weekend but the downside to dragging this time of the year is the 90%+ humidity here in Louisiana. Maybe I can find a reasonably cool night to head to the track but if not, there's my "private" dragstrip plus the trusty G-Tech Pro!!
Keep in mind guys, Mean Gene is probably a VERY good drag racer with experience. It takes more than the mods he listed to get to 5.2's. A lot of that has to do with reaction times and what not. So even if you duplicate Mean Gene's mods, there is no guarantee you will hit 5.2's.

Mean Gene, just giving you props for your driving skills too! Sometimes that gets overlooked!

Bliu is right on the money with this assertion(did I say that right).Reaction time while launching in fact is a large part in posting lower or higher 0 to 60 times.5.1 to 5.2 are really impressive times without forced induction.Take an inexperienced driver in a gs400 with forced induction and they will have a hard time duplicating those times.

What kind of 0 to 60 times would someone expect with say 425 crank hp in a gs400?

I would have to estimate under 5 seconds but to make sure its under 5 seconds, try giving SRT a call or PM Marken they should know what the times are...
