New member long time lurker wheels and tires dilemma
Got some news i need to replace one of my Goodyear Eagle F1 tires (only 13k miles old) due to my chrome wheel causing air loss and I kept driving on it filling it up with the lost air on occasion basically it ruined the tire. Got the wheel fixed today but need tires.
I was running 2 Goodyear Eagle tires and some other kind in the back all 18 inch but now thinking i might want to do a full replace. Saw some 17 inch 10 spoke is250 wheels and tires on craigslist (2010 lexus awd model) and debating if i can switch to those or should I just keep these 18's and get a new tire or replace all 4 with a better tire.
There are times i dont really care for the chrome (im a 31 year old dad ) and debated going back to stock 16's. I have had the car 3 years, it was my brothers prior who ran it up to 137k miles from new. It now has 157k i dont drive nearly as many miles hence the purchase and it still drives and sounds like a great car which was a testament to his care.
Car not cleaned no real mods done but the wheels and tires a while back.
Thanks

So can i scoop up the tires and wheels and have them installed no issue? this was the ad i was looking at locally, price is steep compared to the classified forum here but was going to try and work on that.

When i looked at the picture i was reminded of a post i read where the guy said he needed a drop because it looked like he was ready to go off roading. I think that applies to my car as well with these wheels.

Those wheels will just bolt straight up to your car, but he/she is asking way too much money for them. Try to knock the price now a little. Also, the 4x4 look, is the same with the oem 16s. So if your looking to drop a bit on stock shocks, look at Eibach springs as they offer a subtle drop.

So the guy sold the set of wheels with tires for $1500 in the ad above, after waiting around and debating having the original stock 16's sent up i just went with the one new tire and going to keep these wheels for now. The guy said the difference in tread life would not matter the reading was 8/32 on the older front tire and 10/32 on the new one, taking his word on that it is not an issue.
BTW if i come across 18" IS wheels will 245/40 r18 tires work? I notice they have difference in sizes rear and front but dont know how that works size wise.
This is a little better picture of the wheel.
