i think the v shaped pins you mentioned may be the pad springs. they keep the pads off the rotors when the brakes are relaxed. Brakes will work without them but may wear a bit early.

Sewell is also a great place to do business with. Never a problem with them either.
Todd at TM engineering does not try to screw anybody, it is just the issue of if the has the bushings in inventory or is waiting for a shipment. I order a complete set a month ago, received all buy the UCA & LCA #1. They arrived yesterday. Todd kept me updated via email as to status, if you are patient than TM engineering is great. But, communication is via email only and Todd only reponds when there is new information, I think this is why he gets a bad rap from some folks.

I would suggest you buy Beck Arnley, availabe at Rock Auto.com, they are owned by the DANA corporation and supply parts to the auto manufactures. The parts are great, OEM quality and will save you a ton of money.

Be careful buying beck Arnley with this particular part. Keep in mind that between the first gen and the second gen GS300 these parts are interchangeable and look alike. So to a non-knowledgeable warehouse stocker you may not end up with ball joints from the proper year you want.

I am a huge fan of rock auto.com(60-75% cheaper than parts stores with the same parts), but I think out of the set of re-manufactured ball joints I got from them(BeckArnley), the drivers side ball joint was one of toyota/lexus original recalled ones, and within 10 months of installation the spherical ball of the joint just "plopped" right out and my driver side front corner was slammed with that wheel's tread making almost a 90 degree angle with the fender itself. This happened the split second that I was fully stopped preparing to leave out the mall's parking lot.

I needed the car the next day so had a hard time finding a lexus dealership in so cal that had the ball joint in stock(special order) so I opted for a $35 reman. online. To be honest with you, I am still worried, and I am in the process of getting the lexus OEM Ball joints (Post Lexus recall) as soon as possible.

Sorry to make such a long winded post, but
Save yourself the head ache, and get the lexus OEM ball joints.

I drive a 1994 GS300
