2001-2002 GS style headlight cover
The groupbuy for the 2001-2002 tail lights was a big success.
I wanted to gauge the interest if there was a demand for the 01-02 headlight lens cover. The 98-00 models have a clear lense, the 01-03 models have the bluish, greenish tint too it.
This upgrade can accomplish 1 of 2 things:
1. Gives you a slightly newer look.
2. If your current lense is hazy and sratched up, this will be a perfect oportunity to get a new one.
I just wanna gauge interest in the newer headlight cover. This headlight cover will not make a non HID car have HID's. This is just the cover/case. For people with factory HID's. It seems very easy to remove the components (autoleveling computer, HID bulb and Ballast). They are just screwed in and are separate components. I have taken apart a new HID light, and everything seems quite possible to swap out and mount into the new headlight lens cover.
I want to gauge interest in this first and if there is a good demand, maybe we can approach Steve for a possible group buy on this.
Retail price on this part alone is about $320 per cover.

I think you have to buy the entire housing...that's like $1800 for the pair...it comes with the HID bulb and ballast and leveling computer (but not the other components to get auto-leveling if you GS doesn't already have it)....
Even if you could get the lens alone, you'd have to tear apart the housing to put it on (not for the faint of heart)...dunno if you could get just the shell...I think I inquired about that before and they said you have to get the whole deal

I just bought and picked up the 2001 GS headlamp shell. It already comes the autoleveling piece. It does not come with the HID bulb, ballast or computer or any bulbs.
The dealer charges $332.61 for it. With my discount I got it for $275.00 . I did manage to successfully swap out the computer and HID bulb and ballast. Took a total of 10 minutes to do.
Manary check with your lexus dealer again here is the part number. 81170-3A730

Hey Shinchan,
You must be getting me confused with DaveGS4. No worries
As for installation instructions, there are none. All I did was too take a before picture on digital camera before removing any parts and refer to it if I needed too. All the parts and screws and bolts swap out exactly on the older to newer lights. There is nothing that is different. I finished it in 10 mins. and is not complicated at all. Very, Very simple procedure.
The hardest part was removing the wire which is connected to the ballast to the bulb that runs in the headlight housing. Removing this wire from the housing is tricky. If anyone gets too this point PM me. There is a little trick involved. Hard to describe unless you acutally see what I am talking about.
