Default GS430 RPM goes CRAZY when filling gas

It usually happens when I'm filling gas. the car suddenly idles rough and the rpm goes as low as 200 rpms and goes up to 1100 and this continues until i start driving again. It also happens sometimes when i stop in traffic.
Any ideas what could be the problem?

Thanks

you're supposed to turn off the car before you fill gas. Have you checked your user manual recently or any safety signs at the gas stations?

What has been said buddy, car should NEVER be on when you are filling up, that's a HUGE hazard.

The Lex GS has a pressurized gas tank. Filling it up with the fuel pump running is best avoided.

If it happens when you are in traffic, does your check engine light come on?

Surprisingly, I see alot of people doing this, my friend runs his f150 all the time when filling. Seems to have no issues other than being dumb.

i agree, even when a person uses the full service stations around me, they never turn the car off, nor do the attendants tell them to do so.

When I fill up on the NJTP, these guys are so eager to fill the gas, that if I pull up with the filler door open, they unscrew the cap before I even come to a full stop. I yell at them for this...
