I'm not defending Magnussen's outrageous pricing, but if you have warranty work Magnussen is a great place to go. I've brought my car in for all sorts of work and have been very satisfied with the results.
Some pluses... Magnussen opens early, stays open late and has Saturday and Sunday hours. I've never had to wait more than 2 days for an appointment and they always have a lexus loaner. Most work was finished same day. Always been treated great and they have that lick the SH&T off your shoes with a smile service. But... They are inexperienced with modded Lexus' [Lexi?] and as a result I'll head to either Exact [non delear] or Serramonte [dealer] depending on what I need done. Well, I'll still bring the LX there -- wife won't let me mod that one.
Before anyone says that all Lexus dealerships should have the same type of service, that's not the point I'm making. Fact is, anyone who has ever been to Steven's Creek Lexus knows what sh&tty, snotty, assbackwards service can be. Last time I called they had a 7 week service backlog and they were unsure of a loaner, much less a lexus loaner. Since I purchased my car there I had other work done which consistently took more than one service to address. Absolute comedy of errors, wrong parts, then right parts but mysteriously broken, then fix one thing and re-assemble another thing incorrect.
Never again.

I was in Bay Ridge Lexus in Brooklyn NY because my GS400 check engine light was on, right before I drove out the door I asked how much the 60k service was and he quoted me $1500. He said that included the timing belt. I didn't bother to respond and drove home. That was 2k miles ago, now I'm coming up on 60k and if anyone has any recommendations for a dealer in the NY area I'd appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Newjack

$1500 is crazy rip off price. Not only that, but the timing belt is not done until 90K miles. Look it up in your maintenance manual, it is clearly written.
60K service is really nothing more then inspections and a couple fluid changes. I had a local guy do it for $250. I am getting my 90K service, which does include the timing belt, done this week for $1000 at Difeo Lexus in NJ. They told me they would give me a 10% discount, so I'm expecting it to be under that.
