Not normal, probably a vehicle converted to hand controls?

It looks welded. I think a new pedal assembly would be the correct action. You would have to remove that pedal anyways to cut the metal bracket off. May as well just instll a new one. Besides that thing looks pretty beefy... probably a PITA to cut.

It's not going to be cheap for a new pedal. I think at least $150 or so. Just remove the pedal, and then get a hacksaw and cut that metal piece off. I sure as hell would not spend so much money on such a simple procedure.

^^ yea seriously, get a saw and go at it if you want to get technical then spray it black and voila. its an accelerator pedal youre not looking at it all day. Whoever owned the car before you was probably a little person lol and needed extensions or hand controls, wait if they needed it for the gas pedal why doesnt the brake pedal have one thats kinda weird?

thats a hand control for a disable person. DO NOT spend money on a new pedal....just remove and cut off with a 2$ saw from the hardware store..
