Gotcha... I thought so, but Consumer Auto Guide said "HID's are now optional for 2001+ models" (they must have just meant for the GS3's)

Basically if you have a GS4 and it came with the 17" wheels that you and I have (LOVE EM!!)- your GS has the HID's.

yes all gs430's came with them and they still are a option on the gs300's

no DVD for the 1998-2000 models it used a hard drive based nav that was/is a POS it can be updated but the last update was a 2004

course the gen 2/3 nav the gs430 came with is a POS also mine burned out and i have a gen 4 unit now.

um....we dont have power folding mirrors less you live in non USDM land
How did you upgrade yours to the Gen 4 bro? The actually DVD/Nav unit you mean ? That's crazy...wow. (what year GS got the Gen 4 unit?)

Is it even worth me buying the Gen 2/3 V.10 on ebay to "update" my 2001 ? (I don't RELY on the OEM Nav that much... I'm gonna wait I think. If I REALLY need Navigation, I use my Garmin, in my GS430...LOL)

I've driven a few 430's in '01-'02 years and they bogg at the full throttle but surprisingly my '05 doesn't bogg so that i'm happy but still not as responsive as a GS400..

Dude- you have the "GS" cars by the tail! OH my God - I'm honestly jealous man. Your '05 has only 20k-something miles on it!? WOW.. That is the NEWEST 6-year-old GS430 I've ever heard of! Sweeet!!

Thanks for your input.. so you actually noticed the 'bog' on a couple of '01/'02 models that you drove? Oh well.. it's not that big of a deal...Overall, I couldn't be much happier than I am with my GS... (just the ML sub AND the front center channel speakers being blown from the Texas heat- since they're on the dash and rear deck, that is killing me!!) Fuel Economy is unreal for a car with these miles... Got 25.1 mgp overall- on my drive home from Texas.
Pretty amazing for a V8-powered car that's approaching 4,000 lbs.

I wonder why your '05 has ZERO hestitation? (although it's still less-responsive than your GS400, huh? Even BEFORE the mods were installed?)

HOW DOES THAT BORLA SOUND ON YOUR 400!?

I would REALLY love to put a nice cat-back on my '01.. worth it !?

I am going to check this out. Thanks

BY THE WAY- Check Engine light came back on last night, but I don't know when... I had to pick up the GS from the shop I had my truck serviced at, and I drove my truck home and my buddy drove the Lexus. He doesn't know when the Check Engine came on.

I guess we'll have to scan it again- and I'll tell you what the code says!

Aww man. What are those? Expensive to fix, if it is one of them?

The car had new spark plugs installed recently, I am hoping they're gapped right and everything- Ahh- well hopefully tomorrow or by Friday I can get it on the scanner again. I'm anxious to see what code it throws.

Man!

Thanks so much sakataj

Different issue no need to jump to conclusions, but to the op search is your friend, check your fuel filter that was the cause of the "lag" for my car. GS 400

FYI the fuel filters on the GS aren't life time like Toyota claims.

nah, mine was CHEAP....like $35 bucks but i cant say that is typical, thats why i said i MAY have a fix for you

well since the gs400 DOESN'T have a drive by wire system you really cant relate here.... all in good fun

your probably right though....i probably did jump to a conclusion but i still maintain part of the problem he was noticing is the drive by wire issue. Until you own a gs430 (especially coming from a gs400) you will never know the annoying pain we go to with the drive by wire systems

im with you though, OP def needs to search

im with you on this, when i first joined the boards for like 2 years i swore the filters were lifetime when people asked about them, then that post came up and i was like DAMN.....needless to say, i changed mine shortly afterwards and it made a huge improvement to my MPG

Hey Brian, did you change the fuel tank's filter, or the fuel pump's filter?
