A couple of days back, I was driving my 2001 GS 430, and had to stop for like 10 minutes. Everything was fine when I locked the car. When I came back after 10 mins, the front passenger was making a weird noise like gears skipping on one another. This noise was coming when I was locking or unlocking the car with the remote, using the key at the front passenger door, when the car was put in reverse, and when using the central locking switch.
What do you guys think, is the motor broken, or the lock assembly broken, or is the assembly just dislodged from its place.
Here is a link to a video of the noise while locking and unlocking
.

Can you guys give me an insight on what the problem might be, I dont want to spend 350 on a lock assembly.
Thanks

open up the door and look to see what is happening.....from your video and write up ...i say its broken...but had similar problem on that door and it ended up being one of the bike looking cables that has a plastic retainer and that broke .....made a getto fix to it and still good 1 year later...BUT the gear sound makes me believe it is the actuator itself ...and no its not 375$ ....its about 200$

Check out this DIY...it should at least help you narrow down what the problem might be and it can certainly help you replace the lock mechanism yourself if that's what you intend to do.

I got time to open up and see the problem.
It seems someone had installed an alternate system to lock and unlock the doors. They basically had a different actuator connected directly to one of the bike wires in the middle. Does any one know where I could get the bike wire? the one that connects directly to the actuator, not the one to open the door, but to lock, unlock it.
Thanks
