Default Spare Tire Screw Too Short???

I just bought a 2001 GS 430.
When I checked the spare tire, The screw that fits on it is too short to actually secure the the wheel. The screw doesn't seem to have been broken or anything. I have attached pictures of the screw, the wheel well, and the screw in the wheel well along with a picture of my wheel. The spare tire is the same as the wheels, except no chrome.
Is there a method to get the screw on, or do I have the wrong screw.
Also where could I get the correct screw if that is the problem?

Thanks

Is the wheel sitting on anything? As long as it is upside down, the stock wheels will fit.

have you changed the spare tire?
Toy4life could be right , your tire might be too fat , reason why you prob found your screw just sitting there , previous owner Error

the metal in the spare tire wheel is very thin. I've had the issue a few times, what I did was put my foot underneath the spare tire wheel and kicked up. It should bring the center about 2 inches higher and give you the ability to screw the tire in.

Same problem with my GS. The screw is just too short. I just left the wheel there without a securing it.
