Default Help! stripped screw in remote

trying to change out the battery in my 02 GS430 remote. the previous owner ganked up the screw so badly that the screw is toast, the pattern is no longer a phillips head. will i have to carefully drill it out?

that happened to a family member's key. it was stripped to the point of no return, had to drill straight through it. you can either tape it or glue it back together i guess.

Just buy a new case on eBay and swap out the insides.

You can carefully try to drill it out... but before you do so... make sure you have the replacement screw. Else; as chris said, buy a new keyblade, have it cut to your car, and then swap the insides into the new keyblade.

use a dremel with a cut off wheel and make a slot in the screw so you can use a standard screw driver.

thanks for the suggestion guys. got it out w/o smashing the case. now to get off those pesky small, narrow slitted screws inside.

coming from the honda world, lexus is a DIY hassle. much more time consuming.

Same thing happened to me. I used one of those screw extractors from Sears by hand and it bit into the screw backing it out.
