Default Want to purchase this 2000 GS300, anything known porblems with this year?

I want to purchase my wife a car. We just purchased a new house so I do not want to buy a brand new car. I always liked the GS300.

I have found a 2000 GS300 Platinum Edition. Car looks extremely clean with only 38k miles. I used to have a 2007 IS250 so it would be nice to have a Lexus in our stable. Most importantly my wife will like it much better then her current car. (99 Civic).

Any known problems to look out for in this particular year of the GS300??

Here are some pics of it.

congrats on the new house

38K is still too young to see 'problem', mostly GS' ball joint need to be replaced around 80K-90K, in my case (03 GS300) was 70K.

how much they ask for the car ?

They wanted 13500. Talked them down to 12,000 before tax. Little high for the year but I know this car will last a long time.

My car looks identical to that one, except mine is a 400. I do not suggest a 300 as they get about the same gas mileage as the 400, and are a complete bore to drive. But it's for your wife, so probably best to get her something boring to drive.

You have a larger pic of your car? I want to see those wheels.

Actually the only difference I see is that I have HID's and yellow fogs. Other than that, they looks the same...

What McKrevice said but in SoCal I think you want the big engine for safety.

What do I mean? Merging onto freeways, getting out of bad situations

Yeah it's for the wife so the gs300 would be perfect for her. I like the color comb and the rims in this car and the low miles is a big factor for me. Car will be stock and won't be modified. Friday I am going to purchase it if the dealer does not sell it before then.

With that kind of mileage I wouldn't expect anything major for quite some time. Around 90k you'll have to do timing belt, water pump, plugs, lower ball joints....but you have quite a bit of time before then.

So your wife is coming off a 99 Civic??? This will be an awesome upgrade for her!!!

Congrats on the house and the ride....

Yeah she is coming from a 1999 Honda Civic 4dr without even power windows. Car looks bad since the clear coat somehow is fading away. We been living extremely tight for the past 4 years. It has paid off since we got a brand new house.
