Default Waxing the headlights causes damage?!?

Ok, I just got of the phone with "Novus," I called them to order their polish to help remove the scratches and pits from the headlights and here's what they said..

"Using wax on the GS headlights will cause the scratches to grow and look even worse because the wax will sit in the scratch and slowly eat away at the acrylic around it. He said wax contains chemicals and petroleum distillates that will harm the plastic in the long run.
According to him, the headlights should only be polished using their #2 plastic polish and protected by using their #1 polish.
Is this complete Bull, or could this be true?

I heard Novus was good stuff and it works, but his speach on wax and how it will eat away at the headlight and make the pitting look worse? He also recommended using his polish on the front bumper as well, will it be safe on paint?
Sounds like he just wants me to buy his stuff... What do you guys think?

Never heard of that in my life. Sounds like a cheap line to me. Though I do need a good polish for my headlights !

You can try Zaino's Plastic Polish.

Default I have the stuff

I have both of these products, and it DOES remove the swirls and light scratches from the headlights. And the polish, which is almost the consistency of water, does a very nice job of shining them up. I use it on my tail lights too. Looks real nice.

The whole thing about wax being harmful.....I seriously doubt that. Sounds like he's trying to sell to you, for sure. You may want to ask one the guys here on CL with pro detailing experience. I think garnet92 is an expert in this field.

BTW, you can find a plain old plastic polish at Pep Boys....can't remember the brand name. But it's probably cheaper than this Novus stuff!!!!
