Default TTE replica install frustrations!!!!

Yeah, I learned my lesson...

But, I have a TTE replica in my garage painted to match the car, and I wanna put it on.

I am SO pissed off!!

There are three mounts standing up, the outer two of which are misshapen at least, probably too tall, so I took 1/4" off the tops. Even with that, on the bottom the whole lip is away from the bumper at least 1/2" everywhere except the three standoffs and the tips of the ends. Where would double-sided tape or epoxy even be applied? Even if I mount at those points, it doesn't even look like the front face of the lip would stay up against the bumper--more like it would sag down.

HELP, PLEASE!

The fitment looks pretty good on it. looks just like the real TTE lip

If I remember correctly. You would apply the epoxy along the top back side of the lip, from side to side. There should be a total of 5 screw, 3 along the font and 1 at each corner. I didn't bother to use double sided tape because it would just sag down over time.

paint looks good,

did you pre-fit everything before you painted it? Often, the aftermarket parts never fit exact.

imo, the only way to make the upper portion not sag down is to screw it in. and my lips real too

You need to use some kind of adhesive like epoxy or silicone on the backside of the entire upper trim of the tte lip...that's how it stays up against the bumper. The 3 bottom mounts ont he bottom is to keep the tte lip up from sagging (ie: so it won't snag onto those dang wheel stops bolts/nuts/rebars and rip the lip or your bumper off the car).

Wow look how thin that fiberglass is. I scrape mine ALL the time and i'm not even THAT low. Can anyone comment on how the durability is on these? Also the adhesive to use is this windshield epoxy.

dont use 3m tape! i tried and it just wont hold for more than a couple days on that little bit of bumper in the front that it hangs on to

definitely windshield glue i used it all along the top edge of the front section of the lip....... the only other thing i have holding it on is a couple screws on the backside of either end going into the very edge of the bumper in the fender well

i didnt use the mounts on the bottom (i actually cut them off to get a little better fit)

TRUST ME that friggin windshield glue will NEVER let go, it will have to be cut off if it ever needs replacing
