Default need a little advise

Hi Gang, I have a chance to get an 03 GS 430 for $10k, but it has on 174k miles. I know the cars can practically run forever, but I personally think that is a little too much for the miles. What do you guys think?

it seems high but if its clean, with a clean history, and options such as navigation the Edmunds true market value puts its at about $10K... I personally wouldn't buy a car with 174k unless all the records checked out.. even a bulletproof lexus...

appraise it on:

enter the corresponding info..

It is SWEET..lol, I drove it and everything, but the mileage is scaring the crap out of me!!!! LOL, did KBB and saw the value and everything, it is being sold by a Ford Dealership, and they inspected it before they put it for sale

When a dealership inspects it... it means nothing.. they basically washed the car and called it an inspection. Do you own inspection. Check the fluids, tranny, engine oil, power steering, brake ect... if they look really dirty and/or had unusual smells (burnt tranny fluid) then its a warning sign the the previous owner may not have kept up with the maintenance.. I would also demand a carfax. It could be a great car but check it out thoroughly and don't take a sellers word for it.

^ Agreed...I am still very uneasy with the mileage so I don't think I will pursue it anymore. Going to look at a '00 GS400 on Monday with 100k on it.

If both cars were equally maintained, I'd probably take the 03 GS430 with 174K miles on it over the 00 GS400 with 100K miles on it for the same price. I just think the 01+ GS430 had many worth while upgrades, but others may not think that way. I wouldn't pay $10K for either of them though. Maybe $8K or highest 9K.

Now the GS430 was a trade in at the dealership, and the GS400 was bought at the auction. The price on the $30 was ~ $9k, but then the dealer fee, tax, etc, pushed it up to ~ $10k. Just saw a 02 GS430 with 125K, another auction car for $9k, will add it to the mix.
