Default SCORE!! manage to put a 6.5" speaker under the dash.

I think I can put a 3 way component up there I just pressed down the two humps on the air vent.

I was able to put the assembly back in with the speakers still in there. I just need a clean grill to allow music to come through

Wait, did you cut the dash? That sounds risky... I would never do that on my own.

There is an OEM center speaker in the dash (with grill) on ML-equipped GSs.

its not about how loud...its about imaging and sound stage for sound quality.

I would think that would be bright off the window unless it was midbass only.

Is it mounted or just sandwiched in there? The air ducts look pretty deformed, do they still mate up to the vents on the dash panel?

Is it true, the ceter speakers only work on CD mode?

no, the center speaker is the main and most important part of the ms8 processor. It's a coax and no, I haven't cut anything yet, I will look for the center channel grill. I'm so happy it fitted.

it looks deformed but it fits. the air will come through the vent.

I don't think I can fit an 8" in there LOL. I might try a component 6.5" instead of a coax. but I doubt it'll fit. I barely was able to get this one in there.

Well, the MS8 is a sound processor and it splits the input signal to the channels you have available. Having the center channel allows you to blend in all the sounds with the center stage into the center channel (and all other mono signals too). The center channel is used the most often and you should use the best speakers possible. [Having a small speaker in there is not great for imaging and thus the ML system does not use it to play music (guessing). ]

However, since we have no space and I don't know how to fabricate, the coax is the best I can do right now.

Also, having the signal split to the center helps the door speakers from playing all the signal...thus, creates less stress on the speaker and allow it to play less notes much more clearer.

Not that great at explaining it LOL but you get the idea I hope. Otherwise, someone else should explain it

It's great for imaging.

also note: it might fit a shallow 6x9 in there too.

GS4, it's all about staging.

In the car audio world the ideal audio setup is ear level. Get into your car, turn on the stereo and close your eyes. Listen to where the sounds sounds like it's coming from.

Going even beyond that some people modify horns to fit under a dash, or line surfaces with fabrics like velvet to reduce or eliminate audio reflections (which can cause the sounds to appear "bright").

The center channel in most 5.1, 6.1 setups is for voices or dialogue. In a non .1 setup it's usually a blend of the right and left channels. However, being so close to the glass usually requires some attenuation because the reflection off the glass causes amplification which is even more noticeable in higher frequencies, such as a coaxial setup.

Quick Reply: SCORE!! manage to put a 6.5" speaker under the dash.
