Default high RPM problem ! waste gas

any one helps me, on my 2000 gs 300, recently i noticed i lose about 50 or 60 miles for a whole tank of gas, i also notice the RPM odometer is high than usual, why is my RPM odometer high , what's wrong with it? it's ok to drive but i lose and waste alot of gas, costing more money to fill up the tank quickly, RPM is at 3000 when i drive 60 or 65 and this is not right

i just change lower ball joints, 4 new struts, outer tie rods and sway bar link.

any thoughts and help would be usefully for me

thanks

Sounds more like a tranny problem to me. If you're doing 60mph @ 3000rpm, this would mean your tranny is not shifting into the 5th gear. It's probably stuck in 4th gear.

^^Yvie is right. At 60 it should be around 2k rpms. If its at 3k 5th gear is not responding. If you have M-mode try to shift manually into 5th, but i dont think 300s have M-mode. If you at 3k while on your highway driving. You WILL eat up alot more gas. It will almost be getting city MPGs.

Sometimes mine sticks in fourth (usually on an incline of some kind) Try putting it in 4 (just move the shifter) and then back to 5. That makes mine shift into 5th.

Also, completely unrelated, it's called a tachometer, not a RPM Odometer .

I'm at approx 2600 rpm at 75mph.

So I still think your car is not shifting into 5th gear.

i just replaced my lowerball joints, new outer tie rods, new sway bar links, new struts, nearly new tires, clean throttle body and air,

the car feels good, good acceleration, quick gas paddle response, 2000 gs 300 162k and still going strong, i intend to keep it forever, maybe next year, if i have enough money i will get a 2007 gs 350, have fun everyone
